Over time, our Macs can become full of apps that we no longer use, have stopped working, or that we never really needed in the first place. Getting rid of these apps is a simple matter, but there are different ways to go about it.
Here is how you delete apps from your Mac.
How to delete apps downloaded from the Mac App Store
- Just download the Install Mac OS X Lion app from the Mac App Store and let it walk you through the remaining steps. Still, things can—and occasionally do—go astray.
- Uninstall Razer Synapse Manually It seems to be the easiest way just move an app to the Trash bin, as you do with regular files on a Mac. Just open the Application folder in Finder → Select Razer Synapse.app → Make a right click and choose Move to Trash → than Empty the Trash.
- After checking the App Store to verify the app is still available, delete the problem app from your Mac and reinstall it from the App Store for a clean approach. Contact the app developer. Visit the app developer's website and see if there are any notes about compatibility with your version of macOS or OS X or other apps or services you use.
- Jul 24, 2015 Now, you can close Preferences and go back to Uninstaller. Click next to the app's icon to show its files. Then check the data you want to delete and choose Reset from the drop-down list next to the app’s icon. Then press Remove. It will help to clear some space on your Mac. Note that your app logs may also disappear after the reset.
Deleting an app you downloaded from the Mac App Store is a lot like deleting an app from your iPhone.
- Open Launchpad on your Mac. This can be done by clicking the Launchpad icon on your Dock, tapping F4 in the function row, or performing a four-finger pinch on your Mac's trackpad.
- Find the app downloaded from the Mac App Store that you want to remove.
- Click and hold on the app's icon until it enters jiggly mode.
- Click the 'X' that appears in the upper left corner of the app icon.
- Click Delete when prompted.

Thanks for the suggestion, which I've tried, but sadly it doesn't work. My problem is not that I can't see any updates waiting for me in the App Store, on the Updates page. On the contrary, I've now got four of them waiting for me. The problem is that whether I click on 'Update All' or just on an individual 'Update' by one of the updates, the App Store simply won't install any updates for me. Thanks for suggesting that net monitoring or antivirus apps might prevent updates. I have AVG AntiVirus running, but even if I temporarily disable it, the updates won't install.
